These are the cats who work at supply, or the marina, or wherever, and they were judging contestants on pitch and tone! I guess they were the only people who had time every Friday night to judge. Every Friday night until there is only two!
It was karaoke basically, and points were taken off for looking at the screen. The sound system is so bad, even the best singer could be drowned out by feedback and a ground-loop, which produces a 'hum'.
